Two-Alarm Fire Tuesday Causes Damage, No Serious Injuries
The fire at the Coldwell Bank building at 20 Kings Highway West occurred at 3:43 a.m. Tuesday.
A two-alarm fire early Tuesday morning in an office building on Kings Highway West in Haddonfield spewed heavy smoke, caused structural damage and led to one firefighter being taken to the hospital as a "precationary measure," according to the fire chief.
The blaze at 20 Kings Highway West was reported at 3:43 a.m. It was under control by 4:15 a.m. It appeared to have started on the third floor of the three-story office building and spread to the attic and roof, fire Chief Joe Riggs said. Kings Highway West near the PATCO rail station was closed until 6 a.m.
The cause of the fire appears to have been electrical, Riggs said. The building is a Coldwell Banker real-estate office. Riggs said the firefighter who was transported was expected to leave the hospital Tuesday morning.
In addition to Haddonfield Fire Co. No. 1, firefighters from Cherry Hill and Haddon Heights also responded.

I am the owner of 20 Kings Highway West and wish there was a way to let the community know the amazing job the firemen did. Many of the firefighters were volunteers. Not only was the fire extinguished quickly, but it was done in an extremely professional manner. They took the time to put laptop computers into desk drawers and to cover expensive furniture with tarps to protect from water damage. We are all lucky to have these men and women in our community.
I started asking what I could do to thank the firefighters and learned that I may ask my insurance company to reimburse them for the cost of extinguishing the fire. That is exactly what I plan to do.
