Take a Peek Here for Holiday Decor

Holiday house tour on Dec. 8 opens five homes and two public spaces.

Public and private spaces selected for the Dec. 8 Haddonfield Holiday House Tour are: 20 Sylvan Lake Avenue, home of Ryan and Shelley Sparrow; 220 West Mount Vernon Avenue, home of Matthew and Stacy Laffer; 61 Kings Highway West, home of Jason and Reena Schaeffer; 120 Jefferson Avenue, home of Brad and Denise Brubaker, and 217 Washington Avenue, home of John and Liz LaProcido.

Also, the Indian King Tavern Museum at 233 Kings Highway East will be decorated for the holidays.

Those spots all will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m and again, after a dinner break, from 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the tour. They may be purchased online at haddonfieldnj.org, or in person or by check or credit card at the Haddonfield Information Center at 2 Kings Court. Advance tickets also may be purchased for cash at the information center or at any of the participating homes on the day of the event. The phone number for the information center is 856-216-7253.

A leaflet describing some of the special attractions and history of each property includes a map.

As part of the pre-holiday event, the Markeim Arts Center, at Lincoln Avenue and Walnut Street, will have a gift cottage and craft show from noon to 9 p.m. No ticket is required for the arts center shop or show.

Accent Studio at 123 Kings Highway East, open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 8, will donate a portion of all sales of the 2011 Commemorative Friendship Ball. This year’s glass ornament is blue and silver with amber highlights. It costs $25.

Each property is staffed by volunteers, including two co-captains and a roster of others available to answer questions and keep traffic moving through the homes, said Betsy Anderson, one of the co-chairs of the Holiday House Tour board.

No financial assistance is provided to the homeowners from the house tour group. The board of directors presents an artistic drawing of each house as a thank-you memento, said Anderson.
